Our Stories, Our Truth: LGBTQ+ Veterans’ Stories of Joy and Resistance

May 30 from 7:00 pm–9:00 pm

Spark Social
14th Street Northwest
Washington, DC 20001

Brought to you by Modern Military Association of America

LGBTQ+ Military Storytelling Event The lived experiences of LGBTQ+ service members and veterans are filled with contradictions. From “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policies to all out bans on our service, there is a distinct and incongruous feeling of exclusion that exists alongside the pride we feel for having served—or still serving—a country that doesn’t always include or serve us. Our pride still holds strong while we fight against the systems of oppression that keep us marginalized. Bringing this internal conflict to an external stage and illustrating the beauty of our belonging is the goal of Our Stories, Our Truth: LGBTQ+ Veterans’ Stories of Joy and Resilience. This living series is our platform to speak our collective truth and to speak truth to power. We continue to thrive in spite of those who still wish to see us be erased. Our joy—our existence—is resistance. Dress Code: Dress as your most fly self! Appetizers included with ticket reservation. This is a non-alcoholic event. Drink tickets for mocktails will be provided upon check-in
