Capital Funk’s Funk & Love Dance Workshop Series
May 26–28
Edgewood Arts Center
800 21st Street NW
Washington, DC 20052
Brought to you by Capital Funk
Funk & Love Dance Workshops are official #WorldPride partner events held at Edgewood Arts Center from Monday, May 26, to Wednesday, May 28. Registration through this Eventbrite page is required to attend.
This event consists of a 3-day workshop series, from 6 PM to 9 PM, Monday to Wednesday. Each day, two classes will be hosted, spotlighting historically queer and/or DC-area dance styles such as Beat Ya Feet, Waacking, House, and more. Our expert facilitators will help you understand the histories and cultures behind each style, learn some new moves, and make them your own.
This event series is hosted by Capital Funk, in collaboration with Dance Place at their Edgewood Arts Center location (3415 8th St NE). Founded in 1978, Dance Place supports movement artists by creating development, performance, and education opportunities, investing deeply in artists who have been historically and systematically excluded. As a cornerstone of DC’s vibrant and diverse dance community for the past 20 years, Capital Funk is honored to partner with Dance Place and #WorldPride to curate these workshops as safe and inviting spaces that will leave attendees feeling energized, inspired, and connected.
