Brought to you by Gay Men's Chorus of Washington, DC
The Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington, DC, St. Thomas’ Parish Episcopal Church, and the National AIDS Memorial present a display of 45 panels from the AIDS Memorial Quilt during World Pride to honor Chorus members lost to AIDS. Founded in 1981, the Chorus lost more than 100 singers to the disease, and panels made for thirty members will be on display. With more than 700,000 lives lost in this country to HIV/AIDS, The Quilt offers an important reflection about the tremendous loss of life, allowing us to remember those we’ve lost, ensure their lives are never forgotten, and provide hope for the future. The AIDS Memorial Quilt Display is part of the National AIDS Memorial’s efforts to bring the Quilt to communities across the United States to raise greater awareness and education about HIV/AIDS and to remember those lost to the pandemic. Daily viewing hours generally are 11:30am to 1:30pm and 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Please visit the GMCW.org website to see the daily hours as they differ from day to day.
